Stories of building peace

Insider Mediators, deeply rooted in their communities, bring critical insights and cultural understanding that make them indispensable to effective peacebuilding. Yet, their expertise often goes unheard on the global stage.

UNDP and the EU brought me in to develop a comprehensive brand strategy and digital platform for their Insider Mediators project. The initiative aimed to elevate the voices of these mediators, foster a global community of practice, and offer accessible learning resources. The project included two key components: The Insider Podcast (Stories of Building Peace) and the Insider Mediators Network platform.

Brand Strategy

Through thorough research and collaboration with peacebuilding experts, we identified insider mediators—especially women and youth—along with policymakers and peacebuilding practitioners, as our core audience. We crafted a brand strategy that emphasized local knowledge, authenticity, and global connectivity. The brand personality was designed to resonate with grassroots peacebuilders while maintaining authority in international policy circles.

Visual Identity

I crafted the new visual identity to align seamlessly with UNDP and EU brand guidelines while introducing vibrant global colors and dynamic photography. Layered imagery and bold patterns create a sense of movement and energy, symbolizing the active role of insider mediators in their communities. The textured strips add depth and continuity across different elements, from the podcast to the digital platform, ensuring a cohesive and engaging visual experience that unites the entire project.

Learning Experience Design

We developed an innovative online platform designed to be both a learning hub and a community space, built to engage and support insider mediators around the world. This platform offers a user-centric interface that makes it easy to navigate between learning resources, community discussions, and podcast episodes. I created three comprehensive courses, repurposed from existing materials, and enhanced them with multimedia content and interactive assessments to deepen the learning experience.

Results

By establishing a compelling brand identity and digital platform, I helped UNDP and the EU elevate the work of insider mediators. This project provided essential resources and networking opportunities for peacebuilders and contributed to a more inclusive, locally-driven approach to conflict resolution. The Insider Mediators platform showcases the power of combining grassroots wisdom with digital innovation in the pursuit of lasting peace.
