recent work // lots to add!

January 5, 2013 2 Comments

So, a lot has happened in the last 6 months!  First, I found out I was pregnant with baby #3, then I unexpectedly became a single mom, and then I started working my butt off – all while homeschooling the kids and dealing with life as it came.  I’ve completed a lot of fun projects over the last few months, but I’ve sadly neglected my own site and portfolio.  Here’s a catch-up post to cover some of the highlights since August.

Homegrown & Healthy

Bohemian Transplant

Musings of A Housewife

Cookie Monster Cooking

Random Recycling

Bakerita

Wandering Spice

I’m currently booking for March and would love to take on a couple more projects before my maternity leave in April.  Contact me soon to get your project started!

recent work // patty’s food

June 20, 2012 Leave a Comment

I love it when my clients do so well that they end up coming back to me a year later to upgrade their site designs. This was the case with Patty. In April of 2011, Patty contracted me to build her a custom Blogger template for her food blog, Patty’s Food. Skip ahead to May 2012, and Patty is moving to WordPress with a fresh theme and a new look! Patty’s complete redesign included logo development and a custom WordPress theme with special features like a unique layout and a custom-coded recipe index.

Recent Work // The Wise Baby

June 6, 2012 Leave a Comment

Wowza! It feels so amazing to be working with so many creative and talented people lately! A few weeks ago, we wrapped up a project with Lindsey and Tyler, busy parents-to-be and founders of The Wise Baby – the definitive baby blog. Through her experience working for Style Me Pretty, Lindsey knew what it would take to get her own stylish blog up and going, so she had her vision solidified right from the jump. This blogging couple wanted their site to be a chic, stylish and practical one stop blog for soon to be mothers and mothers alike. Not only did they want a logo and custom WordPress theme, but they also needed some highly customized pages and site functions. I’m so excited to follow along and see the stunning content this blog has in store!

It was beyond an absolute pleasure to work with Shay! She took our vision and made it a reality. Not only is Shay extremely talented from an aesthetic perspective but also thoughtful in her design. Our site navigation is flawless and Shay had lots of great ideas on how to improve the way we post our content. I really can’t say enough great things about working with Shay. Its clear she cares deeply about her designs and client’s satisfaction. Thank you times a million Shay!

recent work // scarletta bakes

April 29, 2012 Leave a Comment

I recently worked with Meagan, from Scarletta Bakes, on logo development and WordPress theme customization for her blog. Meagan wanted a clean and minimalist look that provided lots of white space to showcase her fabulous food photography. This was definitely up my alley and I had a ton of fun working with her on this. While the design is simplistically beautiful, we added interesting touches through a home page grid format and a popular posts widget. Meagan was so kind to say a few nice words as we wrapped up her project:

Shay turned the totally daunting task of reinventing the brand of my blog into simple, seamless work. She was patient, helpful, and worked out each and every one of my concerns throughout the design process. It was an absolute pleasure to work with her!

Recent Work // Bluebird Kisses

February 6, 2012 1 Comment

Ana needed a blog redesign that allowed her readers to feel like they instantly know her. The new look for Bluebird Kisses needed to be clean and organized with vintage elements. She also wanted to add a few new features such as a forum, visual vendors listings, and a blogroll. In additional to the blog design, we did a logo and etsy package for her shop, where she sells some adorable prints! To help launch her new look, Ana is giving away a $100 gift card to one lucky reader. Check out her blog – its a great read for mommas!

Recent Work // Love Stitched

October 24, 2011 2 Comments

I have really enjoyed working with Brittany of Love Stitched over the past couple of years, so when she mentioned that she was thinking about switching from Blogger to WordPress, I was happy to help!  Brittany was looking for something rather vintage-esque with a feminine touch – much like the anthropologie brand.  Since her etsy shop specializes in couture headbands and jewelry, we decided that lace would be a perfect fit.  From there, the design came about pretty organically and, despite some annoying computer-crashing drama, we ended up with a new updated premium design that she loves.

Once the design was completed, it was a quick and painless switch-a-roo for the Love Stitched blog.  Taking just one evening, the migration moved all of Brittany’s posts, pages, comments, and images over to the new self-hosted site using WordPress without breaking any of the permalinks she has worked so hard to establish.  All of Brittany’s current followers were gently redirected to the new feed and the process was seamless.  Now, she’s got all the amazing premium features of WordPress and a rockin’ new look to match her gorgeous line of products!  (seriously, have you seen those statement necklaces?)

Brittany’s redesign included:

  • Logo development – redesign from previous version
  • Customized theme built on the Genesis framework with header, footer, background, color and text-matching
  • Custom font replacement
  • About me graphic
  • Custom social icons
  • Sponsors section and advertisement placeholder
  • Custom sidebar buttons
  • Grab me buttons
  • Content page formatting
  • Search engine optimization (SEO)
  • Blogger to WordPress migration
  • Installation and configuration of plugins for added functionality
  • Etsy banner and avatar

Remember those adorable photos of our new baby Wade?  They were a gift from a family friend who happens to be an awesome photographer!  Charity is a lifestyle photographer, specializing in Maternity, Newborn, Child, & Family photography. Based in scenic Southeastern Virginia, her focus is on giving her clients lasting memories in a timeless, creative photograph.

If you live in the Tidewater area, you MUST check her out!

I loved my photos so much that I wanted to give Charity a web/blog/logo update:

recent work // voice of warriors

May 16, 2011 Leave a Comment

I recently had the pleasure of doing a redesign of the Voice of Warriors website.  Patti, the owner, decided that she wanted a different look for the site since she has fine-tuned the mission.  The goal was a streamlined site with an added column for advertising.  We also updated her Facebook Page with a custom landing page, profile image, and tagged banner.
