Sustainable is the New Black

Five years ago, our family “went green” by transitioning to a paperless household, natural cleaning methods, organic diet, minimalist practices, and making other ecologically sound choices, so we thought it was finally time to translate those values into our business practices. As a sustainable business, we believe that we not only have a financial responsibility to our bottom line, but also a social, ethical, and ecological responsibility to our community and the world we live in. Here’s a few ways we work to achieve these goals:

  • Our office space is run on 100% renewable wind energy.
  • We use 100% natural light during work hours thanks to extra-large windows on a sunny side of the building.
  • While we’re still searching for the right sustainable web host, we currently balance our website’s footprint with carbon offsets from TerraPass.
  • All communication is done through email and the rare phone call, and since we telecommute, there is absolutely no travel involved.
  • We only use energy-efficient computers and LCD monitors with very low levels of energy consumption. (Energy-Star Certified®)
  • Our computers and equipment “hibernate” at low power frequencies during non-business hours.
  • When recycling is not an option, we properly dispose of all electronic equipment. Nothing goes to a landfill.
  • Our entire process is 100% paperless so there’s nothing to throw away or recycle.
  • When purchasing office supplies and equipment, we focus on fair-trade, handmade, and locally sourced whenever possible.
  • For every new project, we plant 1 tree through carbonfund.org.
  • We proudly donate 1% of our profits to local charities.
